50 Facts About Me Pictures Poetries Portfolio

The Forbidden Fruit

You put her on this pedestal
This untouchable polished maiden
Her flawless skin and glassy hair
Made her everything you've wanted
The forbidden fruit

You knew you couldn't taste it
But you've always longed for the flavor
No one was ever able to reach this fruit
No one was ever going to touch her
And you wanted to be the first

I looked at you from far away
I saw myself made of quality and dreams
I wanted you to see me
The same way you saw her
I dreamt of you one day tasting me

But you knew you could already have me
Any time, any place
Everything about you was about the "timing"
Or so you say
I could not compare to the one on the pedestal

I made time for you no matter what
But that made me grey
Everywhere surrounding me was nothing
But she always stood out in the crowd
She was the forbidden red

One day this fruit fell from the trees
And someone else grabbed it
The tree withered and died
And you just stood there wondering
Where did you go wrong

You're lonely and the world filled with black
So you turned back around
And saw light on the other side
There were colors you've never seen before
Could it be a brand new fruit?

Suddenly you wanted a taste of it
Now you wanted to take my colors
And paint yours with red
You thought I'll always be around
And think maybe it's finally time

But I won't let you erase my colors
I knew you wished it was hers
I've decided to leave this garden
Because one day I'll be on a pedestal
And someone else's forbidden fruit
